    Fort Lauderdale, Florida

    A few weeks ago I had to travel to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for business. I know, everyone back home felt “so sorry” for me being that it was absolutely freezing in Washington, DC :) ! Well to make things fair, I hardly had the opportunity to get outside and enjoy the weather. So when I did get the chance, I made sure I was able to capture the moment with my camera in case this “seemingly, unending freeze” decided to stay much longer than expected.

    Fort Lauderdale aka “Retiree Haven” is a nice, easy going pace to the Southern Florida lifestyle. It’s Miami weather without all the high-prices, glitter, and glam. Although I prefer all that “crazy Miami stuff“, I can tell Fort Lauderdale was a nice, chill spot to relax and enjoy the warm weather.

    So here are a few images that highlight the feeling and vibe of Fort Lauderdale, Florida in a nutshell. Oh yeah, and just so you know, I waited until warmer weather visited Washington, DC before releasing this post:)! Enjoy…

    Expecting: The Langhorne Family

    Friends since grade school, it was only fitting that my wife, Ashley, direct a maternity session for her good friend, Riscee. Ashley researched concepts and supplied a few custom details to make Riscee’s photo session extra creative and unique. This shoot was more than creative, it was fun.     Hip-Hop Festival

    Event: Black Expressions: Hip-Hop Festival

    For the past several years, the Washington, DC Hip-Hop Festival has celebrated Hip-Hop culture and music. Mainly focused on dance, this festival is as celebratory as it is entertaining.

    Hosted by Cheles Rhynes and Gesel Mason of Mason/Rhynes Productions at the Dance Place, a community center noted for its resource programs and social engagement in the community, this event is a staple in the arts community. The list of performers included: Capitol Movement Project, Poem-cees, Aysha Upchurch, Life, Rhythm, Move Project, DCypher Dance and featured Boogie Bots (from MTV’s, America’s Best Dance Crew Season 2) as well as the Live in Color Dance Collective.

    I knew we were in for a treat as soon DJ 2-Tone Jones started mixing the tracks and setting the scene. The lights dimmed and the performers took their places. Now our only challenge was capturing the essence of the high-speed performance in low-light setting! Here are a few highlights of the event…
